Information about how to manage your titles in WebTrack

If you are logged in with a user that has managed titles access, you will get links on the MT# field both in the list view and in the full view. If you click that link a new window will open and all information about the title will be displayed in editable fields.

All IMDB updatable fields have a checkbox beside it, with that checkbox you can update that field alone. Just check the box and click Update/Save. If you want to update all IMDB updateable fields, just check the box beside the IMDB title URL and click Update/Save.

Most fields dos not need and explanation.

Some information about some fields:
MT AKA: If this field is empty when updating from IMDB, the first AKA title is added to this field.

MT Genre: If this field is empty when updating from IMDB the same genres will be imported to this field as well as to the IMDB Genre field. If you type your own genres, remember to use this format: Genre1, Genre2, Genre3 and so on, it is the "," that separates the genres.

Presence, Location and Medium: These fields default value can be changed in the config.php file using the "webtrack/update" page.

MTRating: I set this to 0 by default instead of as in MovieTrack to 10.

Comments: If this field is empty when updating from IMDB, the last comment added to the title at IMDB will be entered here. If you enter your own comments, all "line feeds" will be removed and replaced with "space" this is due to a bug in MovieTrack, if you enter a "line feed" in MovieTrack (which is possible) the database file will be corrupted sometimes.

Cover: You can either use the IMBD downloaded cover or add your own. If you want to use your own, just browse to a GIF/PNG/JPG picture and it will be resized to the correct size when you click Save/Update. Remember that a big picture file will take some time to upload.
Also remember that if you change pictures, sometimes the browser don't update to the new picture even if you have updated it. This is due to "buffering" in the browser itself. The correct picture is uploaded (or downloaded from IMDB) but still the old one is shown. Later on when searching your titles you will notice that the correct picture is shown. :) If you have set a cover already for a title and you try to update a cover from IMDB but there is no cover present on IMDB for the moment, the old cover will NOT be deleted, however you will be shown the "default" no cover picture just to tell you no cover where found.

Single vs Series/Box set: If this field is empty when updating from IMDB, and you are adding a title with multiple episodes entered at IMDB. All episodes will be parsed and entered in the box for episodes. I use the same format as I do in my tv.com parser system.

Loan History: This field is not editable in MovieTrack, it is filled in automatically when setting the title to "Absent". But I think it's better to let you edit it yourself. Each line is an "event" in the loan history.

When you are completely done with all your updates, you check the checkbox above the Update/Save button and the information will be saved in to your database.

The last action is shown at the bottom of the page just for information about what you last did.

The "Restore to last update" button is just for resetting back to the last update. It dos not load the title again. Only restores to how it was the last time you pressed Update/Save.

Present or Absent:
The "Present" and "Absent" status is from the beginning from the MovieTrack data files, but because the AMC database dos not have that data in the database, I set it depending on what the "borrower" field is (that becomes "loan history" in WebTrack). The "edit title" absent and present field is not used at all when using a AMC database. Except showing the "status" of the movie for the moment. If you try to change it, nothing will happen, because it is actually the "loan history" that decides if the movie it present or absent. Anything in the loan history = Movie Absent. Nothing in the loan history = Movie Present. It's as simple as that. This was a work around because someone still wanted to use the absent/present function in WebTrack with AMC.

However, you can define one word that is allowed in the borrower's field, that word is defined in the update page.

You can just paste the titles IMDb URL (go to imdb and search for your movie and then copy the URL) directly in to the "search" filed in the first page and the addition will continue to the edit directly. This way you don't have to select the movies from an IMDb search.

Sometimes when searching for titles at IMDB the "result" that comes back is some how not correct, they add things randomly, I think it is for advertising purposes, when this happens you will only see the text: "Parse error, please try again... - Retry!". Just push the " Retry!" link and search again.

If you select anything else then a title from the "search result list" when adding a movie (you can see sometime the text (actor) or (character) behind the title), you will probably get allot of errors from the script. Instead, if your title is not in the result list, add the title without searching IMDB by selecting the last entry from the "search result list". This adds the title as you typed it and you can the enter all the information you want in all the fields manually. Or if you know the actual IMDB URL to the title you can just add the URL and then tag the checkbox beside the URL field and hit Update/Save. That way all fields will be updated if they "exist" in the IMDB page.

If you tag multiple boxes for your title, the parser will go to IMDB and download the movie title paged over and over until all fields has been updated. This can take some time and also, I'm not sure how happy IMDB is if you do this allot. If you are updating all IMDB fields in your title, use the box beside the title URL, then the parser will only download the page one time and use the data over and over to update all fields.

Also, have in mind that saving a big database takes quite some time. I have about 1500 titles in my database and saving takes about 15 seconds. Just be patient. Don't go clicking away on the Update/Save button allot.
